Playa El Escambron Beach Old San Juan, Puerto Rico

One of the few great beaches in Old San Juan, Playa El Escambron is a great beach in general and even more so if you are staying in Old San Juan. There are public bathrooms and showers, life gaurds, places to grab snacks and food nearby, lots of trees for shade, and the sand and water is very nice. Playa El Escambron is also known for snorkeling due to it's proximity to Old San Juan and some super cool underwater statues that can be observed slightly offshore. To boot, parking is only $5.... can't beat that with a stick!

What You Need To Know

Chairs & Umbrellas: Many beaches in PR have umbrella and chair rentals, this is not the case at Playa El Escambron. Bring your own if you have them... at the very least a towel to sit on.

The Crowd: This beach can get busy due to it's proximity to Old San Juan. During the week shouldn't be a problem but weekends get real.... especially in peak season. Get there early on the weekends to get a decent spot.

Convenient: With easy parking, bathrooms, showers, close food and snacks, snorkeling, and calm water for swimming Playa El Escambron is super convenient and easy. Especially if you are staying in Old San Juan with children.
